Solution 1:

Your phone could only connect to a known wi-fi network automatically. So make sure that you have connected your Samsung Galaxy S3 before to that network so that it can remember all the credentials and can connect to the network automatically.

After checking the wi-fi network if you see that everything is set, and other phones and devices are connecting to the same wi-fi network except your Galaxy S3, then the problem is with your phone.

So to fix the wi-fi connectivity problem on Galaxy S3 you need to follow few steps, which will connect your Galaxy S3 automatically to the wi-fi network.

  • Go to the Home screen on your Samsung Galaxy S3 and then tap on Menu key.
  • Open Settings option and tap on the Connections tab
  • Tap on WiFi option; then again, tap on the Menu key
  • Tap Advanced option
  • Select the Auto Connect option

The above steps will auto connect your phone to the wi-fi network, and the wi-fi connectivity problem on Galaxy s3 should be resolved now.

Solution 2:

Perform a factory reset after you update your Samsung Galaxy S3 to the latest OS. But before starting the factory reset, backup all the important data. The process of the factory reset is explained here in detail.

  • Turn off your device first.
  • Next, hold down the Home, Power, and Volume Up button altogether for few seconds till Android logo appears on the screen.
  • Release the buttons then. Use Volume down button for highlighting any options and Power key to confirm it. So, highlight the factory reset option and confirm it using the power button.
  • Next, select ‘delete all user data’ and confirm it.
  • Wait for few seconds to see the ‘reboot system now’ option and select it. The phone will be restarted then and you need to set it up from scratch again.

Also, if you use more devices to the same wireless router, then the wi-fi drops sometimes. The more devices are connected, the more chances of dropping the connection.  So, keep an eye on this point as well.
