This is official: The Vivo APEX phone 2019 edition will be formally announced on January 24. The company has sent out the invites for the event for the unveiling of the new phone carrying the code “The Waterdrop”. The accompanying image of the phone on the invite which the company has shared on the social media site Weibo gives away a number of hints about the phone. Vivo claims the phone will have ‘futuristic’ features.
A Larger Area for the In-Display Fingerprint
One of the aspects of the image of the Vivo APEX 2019 displayed there has a concentric circle resembling the fingerprint scanning icon. The expectation is that the in-display fingerprint on this phone is likely to cover a larger area of the display screen and there are chances that some technological improvements are brought to bear upon this function. This follows certain issues raised by the users of the current Vivo Apex 2018 model. The one to be featured on the APEX 2019 concept phone by Vivo is being called the sixth generation in-display fingerprint sensor.
A Full-Screen Display
The other significant feature you can make out from this image of the new phone is the front display. Firstly, the edges are curved outward slightly and there will be practically no bezel on the screen. What’s more, Vivo is attempting a design that has no notch or a hole either. There will be no physical buttons on the phone on the front screen or on the sides. Your power on/off button, volume rocker and other buttons that you would have on the smartphones will be absent on this concept phone, the Vivo APEX 2019.
Nothing Else Has Been Disclosed
Vivo has hardly let anything substantial out in terms of the specifications and features of the new phone. There are only some rumors doing the rounds. One of them relates to the processor. Since the predecessor concept phone has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC, there is the expectation that this time around, it will be the latest 855 SoC. On the likely level of RAM, the rumors suggest it could be as high as 10GB.
