Use Your Smartphone as Wi-Fi – Mobile Tethering Tips

Having a steady Internet connection is one of the great perks of life nowadays. However, even the most reliable data carrier can sometimes fail at providing you with the connectivity that you need, so you might need to resort to other options. Did you know that your smartphone can provide you with a pretty good Internet connection, via Wi-Fi or something else? There are more ways in which it can do this, so here are the best ones. The next time you find yourself in an Internet predicament caused by the lack of it thereof, you can just use these tips to help you, provided you have a good smartphone on hand.

Mobile Tethering

USB Tethering is a nifty little feature that you can use in order to turn your smartphone (or tablet even) into a portable Internet connection. Just connect your device to your laptop or computer via USB and use its mobile connection to access the Internet from your desktop. Just keep in mind that browsing on a desktop is far more data consuming than on a mobile device, seeing as desktop websites don’t have the data saving features that mobile ones do. But if you have a generous data plan, go for it.

Wi-Fi Hotspot

Another way in which you can use your smartphone or tablet to connect another device to the Internet is to turn on your Wi-Fi hotspot feature. This basically turns your device into a router, so any nearby device can connect to it provided you give them the password. You can connect your laptop or computer to it, but also other smartphones or tablet. This is one of the most widely used functions in this area, so don’t shy away for it. But, as always, be weary of data usage.
