5 Ways To Fix IPhone 5 Problems With 3G and GPS

1 If 3G is extremely slow, or it does not work at all – remove the SIM card

There are certain solutions that are helpful for both problems, but if you have the issue only with 3G remove your SIM card from your device, and put it back after a minute.

2 GPS is not available for some apps (location issues) – check permission to use GPS

If you noticed that you have some location issues, before you check permission to use GPS, make sure that your device is not in the Airplane mode. The other option is to go to Settings, tap on Privacy, and go to Location services. Check if the apps have permission to use GPS.

    3 Reset network settings

For both, 3G and GPS, one of the solutions is to reset network settings.

    • Go to Settings
    • Choose General
    • Choose Reset
    • Tap on Reset Network Settings
This action will erase saved network settings on your device.

    4 Restart iPhone 5

Try this simple step if you have any 3G or GPS issues. Hold the sleep/wake button, and wait for the slider to appear. When that happens, choose to turn off your phone. To turn it back on, press and hold the sleep/wake button again.

    5 iOS software update

You can perform this action wirelessly, or via iTunes. In both cases, make sure to back up all your data.

    To update the software wirelessly:

    • Connect your iPhone 5 to a power source
    • Go to Settings, choose General, and go to Software Update
    • Download and Install
To update the software via iTunes

    • Make sure that you have the latest iTunes version on the computer
    • Connect your device to your computer, and then choose your iPhone 5 in iTunes
    • Go to Summary Panel, and check for iOS update
    • Download and Update.
