Solution No.1: Clean the Home button

One of the reasons why touch ID isn’t working on iPad may be the fact the Home button is dirty. Use clean, dry cloth, and clean the Home button, and wipe the entire device carefully. Also, whenever you are using touch ID, make sure your fingers are clean and dry.

Solution No.2: Delete saved fingerprint, and add it again

Users who experienced issues with touch ID were able to fix the problem when they deleted saved fingerprints, so you should give it a try.

To delete a fingerprint on your device, follow these steps:

    • Go to Settings
    • Tap on Touch ID & Passcode
    • When prompted, add your passcode
    • Tap on the fingerprint you wish to remove
    • Choose the option Delete fingerprint
To add a fingerprint on your device, follow these steps:

    • Go to Settings
    • Tap on Touch ID & Passcode
    • Choose the option Add a fingerprint
    Solution No.3: Restart your device

This solution can be pretty useful, especially if you haven’t restarted your device for a while. Press and hold the power button, and then when slider appears, drag it to the right, and turn off your device. Press and hold the same button, and turn your iPad Mini 3 back on.

    Solution No.4: Update iOS

Upgrading your device to the latest version of iOS can fix iPad touch ID issues. In case there is a new version, you should get it. You will find complete guidance on how to update iOS software in the following article:

Solution No.5: Erase all content and settings

If you already upgraded your device to the latest version of iOS, you may erase content and settings on your iPad. The first thing you should do is to back up your device to iTunes or iCloud, and then follow these steps:

    • Go to Settings
    • Tap on General
    • Tap on Reset
    • Select Erase all Content and Settings
    • Confirm the action.
