If you own an Android device, no matter if it is a smartphone or tablet, you probably already know that software updates are really important. The new software version can improve the entire experience when using your device, because it may bring many new and exciting features, but that's not all. It will also bring the improvements in performance and stability. Also, the update may fix some bugs and glitches you might have had. In this guide, we will show you how to update software on Android.

How to update software on Android

If you have an older smartphone model, and you know that the new version is out, it does not necessarily mean that the new version will be available for your smartphone or tablet. In case you don't know which version of Android you have on your device, go to Settings, scroll down, tap on About phone (or About tablet, About device), and you will see the Android version there.

It is advisable to backup your data before you proceed, and also, make sure to charge your device. Connect to a Wi-Fi network (this is much better option than the mobile data because you will avoid any additional charges).

To update the software, do the following:

    • Navigate to Settings
    • Scroll down and tap on "About phone" or "About tablet" or "About device"
    • Next, click on "System update" or "Software update" - this depends on the device, and it is usually located at the top of the screen
    • If there is a new software version available, you will be asked if you want to Install it, tap Yes (on some devices Install or Install now)
    • The new version will download, it will be installed and your device will reboot.

It is a simple thing to do, but the most important thing is that you will get the most out of your Android device!

You can force your Android phone or tablet to search for an update from the Settings menu on your device, but you should note that just because a newer version of Android exists it doesn't mean it will be available for your device. Refer this website to know more about writings.
