Everyone Thought Samsung Was Crazy...

Samsung's original Galaxy Note launched phablets into near-mainstream popularity. At the time, everyone called the company crazy for releasing a device with a 5.3-inch screen, and smartphones have only increased in size since then (in the phablet category at least). I can't believe that the device started on Gingerbread and it's been that long since its release!

While Samsung definitely took a risk releasing a device if that size, it's certainly a risk that has paid off for them.

As phablets become more popular, the Galaxy Note series is still going to remain the champion of phablets, which can only translate into more sales for Samsung. The Note line has sold over 50 million units so far, and that's incredible for something that's considered a niche category in smartphones still.

From what I've seen, the phablets seem to be pretty popular overseas. Most people I know over here in the U.S. still use standard size cell phones and smart phones, but I would definitely be interested in a phablet, especially one from Samsung, since the company and products have solid reputations.

I also thought Samsung was a bit crazy releasing those kinds of phones before. But then, I guess perceptions and opinions of people could also be changed over time. They are not that bad at all. :)
