Third-Party Software Injections Gone with Chrome for Windows

Google’s Chrome continues to fight against autoplay content, pop-ups, low quality adds and unwanted redirects. The next step taken is a plan for 2018 which has as main goal reducing Chrome crashes due to third-party apps and software on Windows PC.

Google has big plans for Windows Chrome

After observing that two-thirds of Chrome users also install third-party apps such as antivirus software, Google has big plans. To help Chrome users get rid of sudden crashed and unwanted plug-ins, Chrome has plans of blocking third-party code injection on Windows.

In 2018 a three-phased plan for blocking injections will start for Windows Chrome.

The Three phase plan designed by Google

Chrome will be updated next year with a block code injection.

  • The first phase takes place in April 2018. Chrome will start warning users after they suffered a crash and let them know that software is injection code into the browser. Chrome users will also receive guiding to remove that unwanted software.
  • The second phase will begin in July 2018 and the plan is for Chrome to block third-party software from injecting codes. In the case Chrome is not starting due to the blocking, the browser will restart and show a warning guiding the user on how to remove the unwanted software.
  • January 2019 is when the third phase of the plan will begin. Chrome wants to block code injections for good.

Some third-party software programs which will not be blocked are accessibility software, Microsoft-signed code and IME software. For those who develop Windows software compatible with Chrome, Google advices you to switch Chrome channels and test your product.

The giant American tech company is working to keep its hegemony on the market by constantly improving services such as Chrome, Google Maps, Google Play store etc.
