- Maxis Studios has not sent the updates for The Sims 4 for the month of March
- The ongoing situation caused by the COVID-19 virus could be the reason
- The pause in updates could also mean that the next version, The Sims 5, could be in the works
The gaming community is unique in the sense that they become desperate to cling on to the faintest of hints from the developing studio to jump to a conclusion. The Sims 4 game is very popular among all age groups and there has been widespread expectation that Maxis, the developer of the game, will be launching the successor, The Sims 5, soon. This time, the hint came from a tweet by SimGuruFrost, a global community manager associated with the Sims games series. He said there will be no March update for the Sims 4 game.

Why Do Fans Feel The Sims 5 is Up for Release?
Usually, if the developer stops sending updates, the sense conveyed is that the next version is in line. The withholding of the March update has given the impression that it may be the end of the road for the Sims4. The buzz got around that The Sims 5 release could be around the corner. There is no official word from Maxis on this. For all you know, the reason for the update of March not being released could be the ongoing situation caused by the COVID-19 virus.
There may be an April update released later; however, that will have to wait. For now, the expectations among the fans have been aroused. The ideal situation would be if Maxis can put out a clear statement on the status of the release of The Sims 5. Going by the past practice, developing studios engage in a huge buildup before a new game or its updated version is released for gameplay. They would first make a formal announcement and then start releasing some teasers or trailers and then a beta version. Only after all these the stable version of the game will be released in the market. This process may even take a whole year.
Rumors suggest that not even the first step in this process has begun so far. The overall message for the Sims series game fans would be that you will have to wait for some more time before more credible information on the release date for the Sims 5 is known. Till that time, you will have to continue enjoying the Sims 4 game with all its interesting features and characters.
On Which Platforms Can You Expect The Sims 5 Game to be Available?
As and when Maxis decides to release the Sims 5 game, you can expect that it will be available on several new-age platforms. You can play the game on your PC, the PlayStation console or Xbox One. When the console makers Sony and Microsoft release their next versions, the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X consoles, the Sims 5 can be played on them as well.
Can the COVID-19 Situation Delay the Release of The Sims 5?
Even if one were to go with the premise that The Sims 5 is ready for release and EA and Maxis decide to go ahead with its release, this might be the wrong time to hold an event. Having a gathering is out of the question. Everything has to be done online. You won’t get the same mileage of releasing a new game through an online event as you would get by showing a live demonstration to a large audience in a theater-like setting. Given these challenges, it can only a thin hope that the fans will live on for now. The Sims 5 release may happen only in the next year.
