Samsung Galaxy A7 2018 was somewhat of a revolutionary phone. Not because it comes with some never seen before features, but because it is unusual to see a mid-range offer available for $533.11. The device is the first Samsung headset that comes with a triple-camera setup, which is also impressive.
Nonetheless, the Samsung Galaxy A7 2018 might not be that successful on the market, as its rivals have released similar smartphones that might represent real competition. Let’s analyse the latest Samsung release.
Obviously, the camera is the highlight of this release. The performance of this camera is quite satisfying. Obviously, it can’t compare with one of the flagship phones, but it is more than enough considering its price.
The A7 comes with a triple camera setup. The primary camera has 24 MP and f/1.7 aperture, there is a 5 MP depth sensor which comes with f/2.2 aperture and finally, the smartphone has an 8 MP sensor which has f/2.4 aperture and ultra-wide lens.
You will also be glad to know that the camera app of the smartphones brings some new modes that you can use when you are taking pictures. For example, you can try between Slow Motion, AR Emoji, Hyperlapse, Live Focus, Panorama, Pro and Beauty.
If we take a look at the UI of the camera we can see that there is nothing out of a common. It is worth noting that it comes with shortcuts for QuickShare and Bixby Vision. The first option can be used in order to share the pictures you take on social media.
Another new tool that Samsung offers is the “Scene Optimiser” function. Basically, you can use this in order to detect the scene and a preset setting can be used to capture the image. This function is able to detect up to nineteen distinct scenarios and the camera will be set automatically for each one.
The Samsung Galaxy A7 2018 is available in two RAM variants: the 6 GB of RAM option, which comes with 128 GB of storage, and the 4 GB of RAM version, which has 64 GB of storage. If you feel like it is not enough storage for you, there is also the option to expand it up to 512 GB if you use a microSD card.
The smartphone comes with an Exynos 7885 SoC, and it has an octa-core processor and a hexa-core Cortex A53 clocked at 1.6 GHz, as well as a dual-core Cortex A73 which is clocked at 2.2 GHz.
The Samsung Galaxy A7 2018 has a 3,300 mAh battery and its operating system is the Android Oreo 8.0 based Samsung Experience UI. The device supports dual VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (2.4/5GHz), Bluetooth 5.0 (LE up to 2Mbps), ANT+, USB Type-B, NFC and GPS, Glonass.
The first thing you will notice at the Samsung Galaxy A7 2018 is that it is quite large. Its height is 159 mm, but despite this fact, the smartphone is not heavy. It only weighs 168 grams, which means that it is lighter than other smartphones which come in the same size. You will also appreciate the fact that the A7 is pretty thin, at 7,5 mm.
The fingerprint scanner is placed in the power button. This is not the first time we see this approach when it comes to the scanner, and it functions decently. Finally, all the edges of the smartphone are rounded, creating a smooth aspect.
The A7 comes with a 6-inch Super AMOLED panel, and its quality manages to impress us. If we take a look at the resolution, we can see that it is identical to the one of the Galaxy A8 Plus, at 1080×2220 pixels. The image is quite sharp, although the colours aren’t completely accurate at all times. However, you can change some of the display settings.
