Apple will no longer be less enjoyable than its rival Android because starting with 2018’s new iPhones it is going to introduce fast chargers in their flagships’ boxes. Even though buyers might be happy because of this news, in order to do so the production line is pushed too hard so there will be some disadvantage.
The fast charger
iPhone’s specification sheet suffered from the lack of a fast charger, contrary to numerous high-end and mid-end Android smartphones who own this popular feature. It had become more lacklustre since the release of Dash Charge on OnePlus and Quick Charge on Samsung phones. Even though the iPhone original chargers are 5W, they do support extra pushes of power from AC adaptors.
Because fast charging circuitry is expected to come included in the iPhone, iPhone X, and iPhone X Plus’ electrical design which are due to be released in September 2018. This was confirmed by Stephen Silver:
„In a new research note provided to by AppleInsider, Jun Zhang of Rosenblatt Securities believes that Apple will upgrade from 5V 2A to 9V 2A and 5V 3A charging circuitry in its upcoming iPhone generation. Their interest in doing so is to “support more applications, provide a quicker recharge, and better compete with Android OEMs.”
According to Chongdiantou.com „The standard chargers for Apple’s iPhone’s next-generation products will be upgraded. After the upgrade, the USB-C output interface will be standard on the entire line. USB PD fast charging protocol is supported and the output power can be up to 18 W. The appearance of the charger will also make a big change, in addition to the volume has increased, but also from the current square upgrade to oval.”
Even though a high rated charger is already available from Apple, new leaks regarding the upcoming iPhones show that the new charger will have USB-C connectivity (the same ports as the ones from MacBooks and Macs). According to Mac Otakara, the new chargers reported above are being produced. The disadvantage of including a fast charger in the iPhone’s boxes is that additional fast chargers will not be available for separate purchases because the supply chain can’t meet the ends of the deadline.
To sum up, even though Apple has decided to introduce their amazing and professional fast chargers in the iPhones’ boxes, you will not be able to buy any of them separately because the supply chains of Apple do not have a big enough capacity of manufacturing to both make fast chargers for marketing purposes and to include them in the handsets’ boxes.
