The 2020 5G iPhone is Going Back to iPhone 4 Design with Under-Display Camera Technology

Various market forecasts, as well as analysts, have speculated that an iPhone with complete 5G capability will come in 2020. The coverage of 5G internet and voice is not fully comprehensive even in the USA, but people are disregarding the iPhone 11 due to lack of 5G support. The 2020 iPhone is expected to bring iPhone sales up for Apple due to its 5G capability.

Amidst the 5G rumors, a new forecast has appeared. There is speculation that the 2020 iPhone is going to have a complete design overhaul. The next generation of iPhones will bring back the design patterns of the iPhone 4. The expected shipment of these models is speculated to reach around 80 -85 million iPhones, which is quite an upgrade from the current 70 to 79 million expected iPhone shipments in 2019.

iPhone 2020

The 2020 iPhone is expected to drop the notch and replace it with an in-display front camera which has been in R&D at Apple for a while. The camera will rest beneath the display, and when you want to use the front camera, a part of the screen above the camera will go off. The under-display front camera makes it possible for the 2020 iPhone to have a full edge to edge display without any notch or mechanical pop-out camera.

The in-display selfie camera technology was showcased recently by companies like Oppo and Xiaomi, with Xiaomi teasing their in-display camera technology through a Youtube video. The video compares the display of two phones, one with a notch and the other with the latest camera innovation. Both the front cameras perform identically with no difference in quality or brightness in the under-display camera phone. This video successfully shows that under-display camera technology is not a concept anymore and can appear in smartphones in 2020.

The iPhone 4 was a worldwide hit. The phone was way ahead of its time both in terms of its design and features. The people at Apple are banking on this. The iPhone design was changed recently from the top and bottom bezel design to the notch design, but it wasn’t much of an improvement. The new under-display camera design will surely make things better for the iPhone lineup.

The new design, as well as the 5G support, is expected to bring up iPhone sales next year. As for this year, iPhone sales are plummeting, and the Apple stock will have to be carried by services like Apple Pay and Apple Music until the next iPhone arrives.
