Google Chrome is one of the most popular browsers for both desktops and mobile devices. Its appeal stems from the fact that it has plenty of features that make browsing easy and comfortable. Here are the best fifteen such features that everyone should know about.
- Incognito mode
- Drag multiple tabs
Just hold down the Ctrl key on your keyboard and click on multiple tabs to select them. Then you will be able to drag and drop them all around at your own leisure.
- Re-open previously closed tabs
If you close an important tab by accident, or close Chrome altogether when you have a lot of them open, have no fear because you can easily get them back. Just press Ctrl + Shift + T and all previously closed tabs will come back to life.
- Keyboard shortcuts
Did you know that you can easily browse through tabs with key commands only? Just hold down the Ctrl key and press numbers 1 through 9 to easily scroll through various sections of a page that you’re looking at.
- Search with ease
Let’s face it, we can never know everything about all that there is to know in this world. So if you’re reading something in Chrome and come across a word or phrase on which you need further clarification, you can just highlight it, click right and then search for it using Google.
- Drag URL to bookmarks
There is a very easy way to bookmark important URLs, and it’s a lot easier than the traditional one. Simply highlight the URL and drag it down to the Bar.
- Parental control
If you have a child and you want to supervise their browsing, simply add a new person to your account and make sure you tick all the boxes that allow for you to control their online activity.
If you find something on your computer and you don’t know where it came from, you can drag it into Chrome and find out.
- The Omnibox
Chrome’s Omnibox is relatively new, and it has so many uses you’ll never hear the end of it. You can use it to easily search for stuff, or you can use it to add events to your calendar, or…the possibilities are endless!
- Zoom in
Hold down the Ctrl key and simply roll the little wheel on your mouse upwards to zoom in in Chrome.
- Zoom out
Hold down the Ctrl key and simply roll the little wheel on your mouse downwards to zoom out in Chrome.
- Navigate with keys
The Spacebar scrolls down on any page in Chrome, and then to scroll back up you can just press Shift.
- Clear browsing history fast
If you need to clear your history fast for whatever reason, just hold down Ctrl, Shift and Delete, and a window allowing you to do that will open.
- Task manager
This one works just like the one on your computer.
- Translate pages
Google Chrome has a built in translator from Google Translate, and it will offer to translate any page you come across that is in a foreign language.
