On 3rd of January, Steam, the gaming platform from Valve, managed to set a new record of simultaneous connections. More than 12 million players were using the service at 14:00. The precise number is 12.332.504 players, surpassing the previous company record, around 3.8 million, established in the same period of last year.
According to Polygon, Steam claimed that more than 8.5 million people were using its services in 2015, simultaneously. Without a doubt, an important factor to this achievement was played by the impressive amount of offers available for Christmas and New Year’s Eve.
Games like Total War series and CS: GO were sold at a very good price, and, the entire Hitman franchize for PC had a price of just 6 euros. But we can’t say that Valve had a very peaceful Christmas as the Steam platform had a big security issue on December 25th.
Several users reported on networks such as Twitter or Reddit, that they began to see the personal information of other people instead of their own, including credit card details and address.
Meantime, Vale has fixed the issue and assured us that: “Steam service is running again and doesn’t have any problem”.s
