There have been leaked renders of the upcoming flagship smartphone from Sony, the Xperia XZ4. The rumored specifications of the phone to indicate the device will be top-tier, but the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor leads you to conclude that the earlier suggestions of this phone being the 5G enabled phone from Sony may not be true. It is only days before that Qualcomm had held an elaborate event in Hawaii to showcase its latest chipsets and it was clear that for the 5G phones, the processor is the new X50.
Partial Specifications of Xperia XZ4 Leaked
The renders in circulation, apparently from a case maker for the device show the Xperia XZ4 to be having a tall design with the least bezel display and the rear panel suggesting a 3-camera setup. The only specifications being revealed so far indicate that the display would be around 6.5 inches and the aspect ratio kept at 21:9, which makes it super-wide screen. Some other images indicate that the phone could be released in 2 colors in a kind of color gradient; one of them starts from being dark green at the top and turns to a lighter shade of green as you move to the bottom. Similarly, the other one appears to be dark purple at the top and then at the bottom it looks to be wine red.
Likely to be Launched in the MWC 2019
There is every likelihood that Sony will make use of the attention it can attract at the MWC 2019 in February next, to showcase the device and announce the full specifications, the price and the release date etc. Observers in Japan have already started speculating on the price the new Xperia XZ4 will be sold at as much as 20% higher price than the Xperia XZ3. Now, this is also only in the realm of speculation, but the logic being put forth is that with Qualcomm’s latest processor and the triple camera setup, the price is bound to be enhanced.
But the main discussion around the 5G phone from the Xperia stable is still on. Interestingly, like Apple last year and Samsung in 2019, Sony Xperia is also reaching the 10th-anniversary milestone and the 5G phone might be its way of celebrating it. The only debate seems to be if it will be an extension of the Xperia XZ4 with a Pro or Plus or X suffix or an all-new name and model to be assigned.
