It is now more or less certain that Sony will make the official announcements on its next set of Xperia smartphones at the MWC 2019 next month. There have been a lot of rumors about the flagship Sony Xperia XZ4 but now there appears to be an official acknowledgement of the specifications of the phone via Xperia Blog, considered an authentic yet unofficial source for the Japanese phone maker. Here’s what you can expect the company to reveal while unveiling the device.
Best Specifications on the Cards
Sony appears to have made no compromises on equipping the new phone with the best components and features available in the market. It starts with the display; a 6.5 inch QHD+ OLED Display with a high screen resolution of 3360 x 1440 pixels with an aspect ratio of 21:9. Some of these were predicted earlier with the display being tall and other details.
The processor is the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC. The RAM is 6 GB and the internal storage 128 GB. You would have expected the storage to be bumped up a bit looking at the present trends, but there is the micro-SD card slot to take the storage up to 512 GB. The Android Pie, out of the box, is the operating system.
Some More Specs Revealed
Of the other details posted on this blog, the battery is being indicated to be 4400 mAh, much higher than what was earlier speculated, which was smaller than 4000 mAh. Besides these, the Sony Xperia XZ4 is likely to be released in 4 colours, Black, Silver, Blue and Deep Purple. The phone has dimensions, 162 mm x 72 mm x 8.2 mm and its weight is mentioned as 191 gms, slightly on the higher side, but with such a large battery, you would expect it to weigh more. The display screen gets protection from Corning Gorilla Glass 5 and the device carries the IP65/68 certifications for dust and water resistance.
Camera Specs Still Not Clear
There has never been any doubt about the importance Sony places on the camera section in all its Xperia smartphones. You wouldn’t expect anything less with the Xperia XZ4 as well. But as of now, there’s no official or semi-official confirmation on the precise number of cameras, their sizes and other functions. The best guess is that there will be 3 cameras in the rear and one in the front. Going by some estimations, you can expect the primary shooter to be in the order 40 MP with the secondary and wide-angle lenses in the 5 MP to 16 MP range. The front camera for selfies could be 24 MP. But you have to wait for some more time for the ‘real picture’ to emerge (pun intended).
