Sony Mobile has started rolling out Android Oreo update for its latest R1 series smartphones. R1 and R1 plus were launched in October last year in India exclusively. Both phones posed a great challenge to all other mid-range smartphones.
The reason for Sony’s popularity among Indian household lies in blending traditional features with technological advancement. R1 and R1 plus were no different with features such as Xperia Actions, which makes suggestions based on data usage as well search usage with the community and game features. Reminders on the To-Do list and contextual menus are the additional features in the Xperia R1 and R1 Plus.

While launching Xperia R1 and R1 Plus with Nougat 7.1 Android, Sony promised to update the phones to Oreo. Fulfilling the promise, Sony Mobile will bring you all the fascinating features of the Oreo such as PiP display, BG limit improvement, and notification panel. Talking about PiP is nothing but dual screen function, which allows two different apps to run on the screen at the same time.
Xperia users will experience the whole new notification panel with superior visual graphics and clear text. The fascinating features could be auto-fill and always-on display. The auto-fill, while letting users log in quickly on a number of platforms, comes with many other options such as text selection.
Besides, Xperia R1 and R1 plus users may see “Smart Selection” feature, in which the Xperia will offer you more options upon and based on selected text through the Oreo update.
It is understood that Xperia R1 and R1 Plus will get automated notifications for the update. If users don’t get an update notification, they can check their settings, scrolling down to the ‘About Phone’ and clicking on ‘System Update’ to check the availability of the update.
Although the rollout is a smooth affair for Sony, there were some users complaining about WiFi crash and some third-party apps misbehaving.
