Snapchat New Alpha Version Available with New Features

In November 2018, the CEO of Snapchat, Evan Spiegel, made an interesting announcement. Apparently, a new redesign, built from the ground up, will be launched by Snapchat. After a year passed and we didn’t see much progress made, until now, when we start to see some movement and how the tune-up will entail.

The new app

The Android up is concealing an alpha version of the future Snap app that works similarly to the iOS version. The interface looks cleaner and the performance is definitely better than what you can deal with now on Android.

If your device has root access, then you can already enable the brand new Snapchat Alpha. It features a new interface may have a couple of tweaks but you should primarily focus on how Snapchat addresses the Android’s top complaint, performance.

What we see in the current app could definitely be improved because it is pretty choppy and it is known for slowing down quite a bit. However, the new Alpha version has managed to sway a couple of its users into saying that it really increased its speed. A brush emoji will still allow you to draw things as you select emojis.

What’s not so good?

Of course, there are still things that need improving. When you take snaps they will still be screenshots of your camera’s viewfinder. Saved photos will share the phone’s camera resolution. Since it is still a work in progress, there are bound to be a few unresolved issues. There are crashes happening from time to time and you may not be able to send chats.

Then, there are some things missing. The all-important trophies, the map and the Snapcodes cannot be found on the Snapchat Alpha version.

How can you activate it?

As we previously said, you can gain access to Snapchat Alpha as long as you have root. Those that are avid users of Snapchat, might not want this pile of errors yet. However, if there are still people that would like to try it out, then by all means, go ahead.

If you got root access on your phone, then nothing stands in your way of trying out the alpha version. There are many enthusiasts who can’t contain themselves when they hear about a new release but you should know that it is not available for every Android user and you have to expect some problems with its functionality.
