The name Snapchat suggests an application whose main function would be communicating in text format, but the reality is that most of us are using it to send photos with an expiration period to our friends. With the new update, Snapchat becomes a universal communication service with advanced capabilities for any situation. This functionality is named Chat 2.0 and is available right now.
Chat 2.0 aims to be the main choice for all online communication. In addition to images with the expiration date, text and emoji icons, Snapchat receives virtual stickers, video calls, voice calls and video and audio messages. All of these can be used by each user as they please, without having to compel the other user to use the same method of communication.
Therefore, you can have a call in which one of the users prefer to write, with the camera and the microphone turned off, you can have an audio call in which one of the users uses photos with text and any combination. The transition between these is intuitive, every communication method having its own dedicated button from within the chat window.
Along with the new Chat 2.0 features, Snapchat also received another small update to the functionality of “stories”. At the end of one of the stories, the application will start playing the next story, without having to navigate through the menus.
Snapchat thus becoming one of the most advanced communication services on mobile, and those who were not interested in its photo functions might be attracted by the new messenger capabilities. Snapchat app is available for free in the AppStore and Google Play Store.
