Facebook users can communicate with each other using the Facebook chat (instant messenger). This allows to your friends to see if you are online so that they make contact with you by sending you the direct message. To protect their privacy, some users want to temporarily or permanently disable online status for all the users or for just one person. How to Set Profile Visibility On Facebook Chat
You can control who can see you on the chat, just follow the steps below:
Sign into Facebook.
At the lower right corner of the Facebook window, you will see “Options” button in the form of the gear. Click on it, and in the new small window click on “Advanced settings”.
In the new window, you can see three options.
If you, for example, don’t want that specific person to see you on chat, you have to choose the option from the top “Turn off chat for only some friends…”. In the field, type the name of the friend. In the given field, you can add as many friends as you want. After finished, click on “Save” button. After that, you will not see friends that you specified on the Facebook chat sidebar’s list.
If you want only one person or several people to see you on chat, then you need to choose the second option “Turn off chat for all friends except…”. Type the name of friends in the field and click on “Save”. After that, on the Facebook sidebar, you will see only friends which you added on the list.
If you want to be invisible to all your friends, you can use the third option “Turn off chat for all friends”. And click on “Save”.
