Samsung has been releasing a flip phone every year in China. This year, the device is called the Samsung W20 5G. It is equipped with two touch screens and was recently showed off in an expo in China. The W20 5G is the successor of the Samsung W2019 which featured a Snapdragon 845 chipset. The device was leaked by a poster in an exhibition in China. The leak was reported by a reliable source Ice Universe on Twitter.

The specifications for the new Samsung W20 5G have not been revealed yet. It is expected to have a Snapdragon 855 or a Snapdragon 855 plus chipset. It is also rumored to have up to 512 Gigabytes of internal storage space.
In the pricing department, the new flip phone by Samsung is in the premium range with the base price rumored to be above CNY 9,999. The earlier versions of the phone were released at CNY 8,999 for the base variant. The W20 5G is pricey due to the connectivity options provided with the device. The 1000 CNY price hike will not affect the target market of this phone, which is the wealthy populace of China.
LetsGoDigital made a few renders of the device based on the patents filed by Samsung in China. The renders give us a good idea as to what this phone would look like. The interesting part about the patent is that it shows a phone that folds in both directions, inside as well as outside. Due to this design, one of the screens always remains exposed whichever way you fold the phone.
This patent could also point to the next Galaxy Fold device by Samsung which is expected to release next year. This time, Samsung is partnering with an American designer Thom Browne to make the foldable phone design more appealing to its customers in the west.
Some other details about the Samsung W20 5G are:-
- The phone is rumored to have a punch hole style front facing camera like the S10 and S10+ devices.
- The back of the phone will feature a dual-camera setup. We are expecting the second camera to be a depth-sensing camera or a wide-angle lens.
- The inner display is expected to be made by the UTG (Ultra-Thin Glass) technology which is being developed by Samsung. Samsung’s Ultra ThinGlass is just 3% of the thickness of regular glasses used in smartphones!
The Samsung W20 5G is expected to be officially released at the Mobile World Conference (MWC) 2020.
