Samsung Starts Development for the Galaxy S11 firmware

It seems like Samsung wants to have an edge in the 2020 flagship smartphone market by releasing its Galaxy S11 sooner than expected. The latest leak from SamMobile reveals that Samsung has already started working on the framework for its 2020 flagship – the Galaxy S11. There is also firmware for more than one model being developed.

One UI 2.1 Update

According to reports from SamMobile, Samsung has started developmental activities for the Galaxy S11 firmware. The Galaxy S11 will come with Android 10 out of the box and on top of Android 10 will be the One UI 2.1 which is the next update for One UI that is expected to release along with the Galaxy S11. The One UI 2.1 update is expected to be released along with the Galaxy S11 in 2020.

Galaxy S11 Firmware Development Started

According to leaks, Samsung has started working on the firmware for the device number SM-G986B, which is expected to be the Galaxy S11. The Galaxy S11 will be the middle tier model between the Galaxy S11e and the Galaxy S11 Plus.

Apart from SM-G986B, there are two other Galaxy S11 models – SM-G981 and SM-G988. The former is expected to be the Galaxy S11e and the latter being the Galaxy S11+.

Galaxy S11 Specifications

According to the report, the Galaxy S11 will be equipped with a 5G modem for 5G data and calling support. The modem will be similar to that on the N976B which is the 5G variant of the Note 10+ device with an Exynos chipset. As of now, there aren’t any non 5G variants of the Galaxy S11 in development. However, they may eventually release a 4G variant of the device as well.

Galaxy S11 series

The Galaxy S11 will come with Universal Flash Storage (UFS) 3.0 just like Note 10 which will enable fast read and write speeds. The device is expected to come in 128 GB and 512 GB size variants.

According to other rumors, the device will feature a 5x optical zoom lens in the rear camera setup. The primary rear camera is expected to be the 108 MP ISOCELL sensor developed by Samsung. The screen could have a 120 Hz refresh rate with thinner bezels when compared to the Galaxy S10.

Galaxy S11 Launch Details and Release Date

The launch event for the Galaxy S11 will probably be held in the third week of February 2020. The Galaxy S10 went on sale in March and if Samsung follows the s course, we might see shipments of the Galaxy S11 being carried out around the same timeframe.

With the early launch of the Galaxy S11, Samsung aims to capture the 2020 flagship market that is increasingly being crowded by the competition every year. The process of development of the firmware has begun and they have roughly four months before the expected launch of the Galaxy S11. As always, we expect nothing but the best from Samsung for its next flagship device.
