Samsung Releases Galaxy Book Ion and Galaxy Book Flex Using 10th Generation Intel Core Processors

The South Korean tech giant Samsung unveiled the Samsung Galaxy Book Ion and the Samsung Galaxy Book Flex at the recent Samsung Developer Conference 2019. Both laptops come in two variants of screen size and have some high-end specifications that are given below.

Specifications of Samsung Galaxy Book Ion

The Samsung Galaxy Book Ion has an ultra-thin design with 12.9 inches thickness and a magnesium clamshell frame. The lightweight device comes with two options for screen size – 13.3 inches and 15.6 inches. All other features are almost the same in both models. The laptop supports a Full HD QLED display and has a 1920 x 1080 screen resolution. It incorporates a Comet Lake 10th Generation Intel Core processor coupled with an Intel UHD graphics coprocessor.  The device is equipped with 16GB RAM and 1TB NVMe SSD storage. The laptop functions on Windows 10 Home/Pro operating system.

The 15.6-inch version of the Galaxy Book Ion additionally has a Sodimm 9 for extra RAM, 2GB NVIDIA GeForce MX250 GPU for enhanced gaming and an SSD expandable slot through UFS/microSD combo for more storage.

Specifications of Samsung Galaxy Book Flex

The Samsung Galaxy Book Flex also supports 13.3 inch and 15.6 inch Full HD QLED displays with 920 x 1080 screen resolution. The screens also support 10-point multi-touch displays and 16:9 aspect ratios. The device is integrated with a 10th Generation Intel Core processor and offers the choice of either an Intel Iris Plus Graphics or an Intel UHD graphics coprocessor. It is integrated with 16GB RAM and offers a maximum of 1TB NVMe SSD storage. The gadget operates on Windows 10/Home.

One of the key highlights of this device is a 360-degree hinge that allows the gadget to be used as either a laptop or a tablet. The gadget comes along with a built-in S-Pen stylus featuring new gesture controls. Other noteworthy features include a dual array microphone, a 720p HD camera and AKG stereo speakers with Smart Amp. The device supports multiple connectivity modes like Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi 6 802.11a2x2, a USB Type C port, a headphone/microphone port, and two Thunderbolt 3 ports. It draws its power from a 69.7Wh battery.

The 15.6-inch model offers an extra 2GB NVIDIA GeForce MX250 graphics memory.

Both the Galaxy Book Flex and Galaxy Book Ion offer support for Windows Hello biometric security using fingerprint, Galaxy Buds, and wireless PowerShareto charge Qi-compatible smartphones, among others.

The prices of both the Galaxy devices are not known as of now. They are expected to be made available from December in select markets.
