Samsung has been trying to push its own operating system known as Tizen to all its devices starting with smartphones and ending with smartwatches for a while now. On the downside of things, Android fans are loyal and getting them to change their OS is not an easy task. Therefore, Samsung is slowly but surely installing Tizen on more of its devices in hopes that fans will get used to it and pick Tizen over Android.
Samsung Chooses for Wear OS for Gear S4
The South Korean tech giant is planning to launch a new version of Gear S4 in the nearby future and to everyone’s surprise, the smartwatch has been spotted running on Wear OS. In case you didn’t know, Wear OS is developed by Android and this means that Samsung is leaving its Tizen operating system behind.
Taking A Risk
We should mention that this information comes from Evan Blass who is a known and reputable leakster. Evan Blass has a good track record of predicting the tech industry and this makes his leaks believable
Nonetheless, the reason why Samsung probably decided to go with Wear OS instead of Tizen is that it wants the new Gear S4 to be successful on the Western market where Android devices are ruling the industry.
Samsung is not willing to take a risk by installing Tizen on the new Gear S4 and fans are going to receive Wear OS instead. However, rumor has it that Google actually “forced” Samsung to make this major change because the Android parent wasn’t happy that Samsung removed Android from its Galaxy Gear lineup.
On the bright side of things, Samsung fans who are waiting for the new Gear S4 to arrive should be happy to know that Wear OS is a balanced operating system that’s packed with lots of innovative features. To make things even better, Wear OS on Gear S4 is expected to feature “blood pressure monitoring”.
