August 7 was rumored to surprise the ‘Big Apple’ by unveiling the highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 along with the Galaxy Note 10 series. Android Headlines one-upped the rumor by releasing leaked images of the device last week. This week, we have clearer images and some exciting features that the tab is likely to sport.
What’s in a name? – Why S6 and not S5?
Rumor has it that Samsung took a pass on naming its latest tab as ‘S5’ and took to the name ‘S6’ instead. This could be because the multinational conglomerate introduced a Tab named S5e earlier in 2019.
The leaked images of Tab S6 tell us that the tab will share features with Tab S5e and will also sport some additional variations in its design. Much like its predecessor, Tab S6 is also rumored to sport a metal body and a sizeable Active Matrix Organic Light-Emitting Diodes (AMOLED) display.
The big disclosure – Wireless Magnetic Stylus Pen
The Tab S6 is truly a bundle of surprises. We have reason to believe that the tablet sports a metal body instead of one made of glass. The big reveal could be the Magnetic S Pen that charges when attached to the groove on the rear of the device. The S pen is touted to sport a top cap sans the metal ring that S5e carried. The pen already seems to have garnered criticism such as ‘awkward’ as it keeps its users from placing the tablet flat on the surface. Its wireless-charging feature hints at its Bluetooth connectivity.
The Dual surprise – Dual Camera system
Inching a little above the magnetic S pen sits the dual-camera system. The cameras are positioned on the upper-left corner of the device instead of in the center, as sited in its predecessor – S5e. One of the dual cameras is hyped to be a 13 MP main sensor while the second could be a 5 MP wide-angle camera.
Bump up the bass – AKG tuned speakers
The tablet’s audio system is expected to be powered by four AKG-tuned speakers. Two of the speakers sit on the top of the device while the other two are at the bottom. The bottom of the tab also houses a USB-C port. Aping the design of S5e, tab S6 is also not believed to carry a headphone jack.
The tab will supposedly exhibit a 10.5-inch display, storage of 128 GB that can be upgraded to 256 GB, and a 6 GB RAM, fueled by Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC. In accordance with the pattern created by Samsung’s launches in the latter half of the year, the Tab S6 is anticipated to be powered by Android 9 Pie rather than the soon-to-be-released Android Q.
Samsung will also reportedly market a keyboard accessory separately. The tab is expected to be sold in three hues- Blue, Grey and Pink and will possibly flaunt two versions- Wi-Fi-only and the higher bandwidth enabled Wi-Fi+LTE.
Take some time to digest the above details of the soon-to-be-launched gadget while Samsung plans for its mega release!
