Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ were phones which ushered in incremental upgrades compared to last year’s flagship Galaxy S8 and S8+. The phones have still managed to impress the team at Consumer Reports and have won some amazing ratings in various aspects.
In a detailed report, the people at CR couldn’t stop heaping laurels on the amazing Android phones of the year made by Samsung. While everyone is aware of the fact that the manufacturer didn’t try anything innovative or out of the box with their new phones, these devices still managed to be one of the best in terms of durability, design, performance and sound output capabilities.
Top Ratings from Consumer Reports
According to a blog published on the official Consumer Reports website, the Samsung Galaxy S9 and the Galaxy S9+ have managed to acquire the top positions in the CR ratings. They have even managed to beat the S8 and S8+ which used to be the best of the best until the new phones were officially announced.
Every year Samsung has managed to outdo its own products. The Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge were phones that were way beyond their era when they were launched in 2016. A phone with a display that went all the way to the sides with such slim bezels was unheard of. It led to the devices acquiring the best ratings from consumers across the globe and became the top two phones of the year.
When the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ got launched in 2017, their Infinity Display impressed every Android phone lover without any questions. The phones dethroned the previous models and the same has happened once again in 2018. The new models have been rated the best in almost every aspect.
Best Sound, Durability, and Speed
The Galaxy S9 priced at an affordable $720 and the Galaxy S9+ which is slightly higher at $840 had received the Consumer Reports’ best ratings on all major aspects. While at the end of the day, personal preferences do matter, the new phones are considered more durable as their displays managed to stay intact in the first 50 drops.
Strengthened by a thick metal frame and better glass, the new flagships are far more durable than the S8 phones. The S9 phones powered by the newest Snapdragon 845 is faster to respond with no lag and also offers immersive sound as they use Dolby Atmos certified front speakers. The CR reports did report that its battery life was pretty bad with the Exynos processor and the camera wasn’t impressive as it captured oversharpened images.
