The YouTube ads released by Samsung shows that the company has focused on enhancing the camera of Samsung Galaxy S9 and may include features like enhanced slow-motion, super fast focus, animated emojis and low-light capture.
Official Launch of Samsung Galaxy S9
Samsung has already confirmed the official launch of their latest flagship. The Mobile World Congress is to be held in Barcelona between February 25th and March 1st. February 25 is the D-Day for the exclusive unveiling of the phone. Invitations have already been sent out with number 9 in purple along with “The camera. Reimagined.” This clearly means that unlike Apple that skipped iPhone 9 and went for iPhone X, Samsung decided to follow the series order. This confirms that the flagship will definitely be an S9.
Samsung Galaxy S9 features
S9 May Have Its Own Version of Animoji
A Korean news outlet reported that the S9 may have a 3D emoji feature. You will be able to scan your face which would then create a 3D character that will copy all your facial expressions and movements. You can send the emojis as regular messages. Samsung seems to have followed Apple’s footsteps.
It Will Feature the Snapdragon 845 Processor
The Samsung Galaxy S9 is expected to be the first phone to use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 chipset. It is expected to run its own Exynos 9 Series 9810 processor in Asia. The Snapdragon 845 is amazingly powerful and will be used in further high-end phones of 2018. It will offer top quality image and video capturing functions. The AI will be lightning fast and its security will be impenetrable. The performance will be mind-blowing and you will get longevity when it comes to battery life.
In short, you will be shooting lifelike pictures and videos, a smart assistant will analyze the pictures, upload them on the social media instantly as they lie fortified within the walls of your S9. You can work smoothly, and it will all be faster with improved battery life. Samsung is offering a 3,000mAh battery for their S9 and with the Snapdragon 845 chip, you may get a life of about 20 hours. It predecessor S8 and S8 Plus both had passed a test which displayed their battery strength – lasting 16 hours.
The Phone May be Available in Colour Purple
Phone leaker Evan Blass revealed through one of his tweets that the S9 may be available in lilac purple, coral blue, midnight black and titanium grey. As it goes by its reputation Samsung has known to manufacture phones in conventional colors and sporadically enliven things by introducing colors like burgundy or coral blue.
Samsung’s Version of Face ID
The S9 will now feature what they are calling Intelligent Scan. Although Samsung phones already have the feature of facial unlock, it is not considered to be safe enough to use Samsung Pay. Intelligent Scan is a two-fold scan which scans both face and iris. You will be able to unlock your phone and log-in to websites. It is said to work effectively in both bright and low-lit environments. The Intelligent Scan according to Samsung’s code begins to work as the screen of the phone is turned on. This is quite similar to Apple’s Face ID however, there is an added security layer.
Dual Camera’s at the Back but a Single one in the Front
In one of the pictures of Samsung Galaxy S9- published by SamMobile, the smartphone had dual rear-facing cameras which were 12 MP each and one single 8 MP lens. The S9 may feature Isocell sensors that refine fast moving objects even in low-lit conditions because of their fast auto-focus ability. You can even video record in slow-motion with a resolution of 1080 pixels at 480 frames per second with the same technology. This means you are going to get smooth and crisp images. With the Snapdragon 845 chipset, there may be additional features that you will get in your camera including the ability to record in 4K UHD video.
DeX Pad Instead of DeX Dock
Samsung has recently registered for a trademark known as DeX Pad with the Intellectual Property Office of European Union. SamMobile was the first to spot the application. Although there aren’t many details available, the name suggests what S9 may come with. One of the reports from Galaxy Club revealed that Samsung will make the DeX pad available to people with the launch of their phone. The pad is expected to come in black color.
When DeX dock was released last year Samsung came out with DeX Station which lets the users run their smartphones on a big screen just by placing the phone on the dock. It also works as a wireless charger to charge your phone. The name also suggests that the design of the DeX pad will be flat and now since Oreo is around, you will no longer require the services of a mouse and keyboard instead the screen of the S9 would serve as the input device. The price of the DeX Pad has not yet been revealed.
Wireless Charger Will be Faster
One of Samsung’s recent publishing’s on their website included a wireless charger with model number EP-N5100; this doesn’t seem to match the model number of any existing wireless chargers of Samsung. However, it is unknown whether Samsung will be utilizing the services of EP-N5100 for S9.
Headphone Jack Will be Present
3.5 mm jacks are now a rare sight in the modern day smartphones. Apple used the port in iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. Moto Z and Pixel 2 have also followed the same trend. Samsung, on the other hand, seems to be keeping the 3.5 mm port. Since there is a port for the jack we are also assuming there will an activated FM radio chip in the S9 phone. So, you may be able to listen to songs even if you don’t have an internet connection.
Samsung Galaxy S9 – Foldable Version?
In their last earnings report, Samsung revealed that they are already working on developing foldable displays. They had filed a patent for a foldable phone back in 2016. It was the same year that Bloomberg said that Samsung would soon release flagships with bendable screens.
Price and Pre-Orders
You may have to pay about $140 more than for S8 to buy a new S9. So, you would basically have a price tag of $850 for a new Samsung Galaxy S9. One of the senior executives of Samsung revealed that the company will be taking orders from March 1 and the official sale will begin from March 16. This was tweeted by phone leaker Evan Blass.
This is about it for Galaxy S9, come back for its exact features and more details after the launch on February 25, 2018.
