When it comes to choosing what smartphone to buy for yourself or a loved one, it can get quite tricky, because more and more brands are putting out amazing phones now. Even mid-range, affordable devices are becoming pretty state-of-the-art as far as technology is concerned. However, we’re not here to talk about mid-range smartphones today. We’re here to compare the king of Android devices, the Samsung Galaxy S8, with a recent launch from Sony, the Sony Xperia XZ.
A smartphone from the Sony Xperia line might not be what you’d imagine seeing compared to an acclaimed giant of the smartphone world like the Samsung Galaxy line. However, Sony has upped their game tremendously with the new Sony Xperia XZ. Let’s take a look and see why.
The Battle Begins
Upon initial comparison, the Samsung Galaxy S8 looks better than the Sony Xperia XZ, with its bigger screen and more elegant appearance. However, while the Sony’s screen might be a tad smaller, it also has 807ppi of pixel density, which is amazing compared to the 570ppi of the Samsung. Not even the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus can beat it there.
And the advantages of the Sony Xperia XZ continue. The two phones have an equal amount of RAM (4GB) and an equal amount of internal storage (64GB, +SD-support up to 256GB), and also the very same processor. We’re talking about the newest octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 running at a 2.4 GHz capacity. However, when we get to the camera, that’s when the Sony Xperia XZ truly wins, with its whopping 13MP front camera and 19MP rear one. The Samsung Galaxy S8 cannot even compare with this, seeing as the Sony’s selfie camera is better than its rear one.
Therefore, the Sony Xperia XZ is clearly the winner here, and it’s clear that Sony has improved their game tremendously with this launch.
