The HTC U11 and the Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ share the same operating system but are significantly different from each other. These can all be considered premium smartphones, equipped with high-end components and top-notch performance and choosing between them can be quite a challenge. Despite the fact that the S8 and S8+ have a size difference between them, the S8+ being larger, they share most of the same traits.

Size and Weight

Where size is concerned, the HTC U11 is situated in between the Galaxy S8 and the bigger S8+. However, the HTC U11 is considerably wider than the others, with the S8 variants being advertised as a tall, narrow and portable smartphone that is easy to hold in your hands. Weight-wise, the HTC also falls in the middle of the two, with a weight of 169 grams, compared to the Galaxy S8’s 155 grams and Galaxy S8+’s 173 grams.

Construction and colors

Both of the smartphones come equipped with an aluminum frame and glass back. However, the Samsung variants have a much more minimalistic frame that gives the impression that the device is almost entirely made out of glass. Color-wise, there is a healthy number of colors to choose from, although some are country-dependent. The HTC U11 can be purchased in black, blue, silver, red and white, while the Samsung S8 series is available in blue, orchid gray, black, blue and gold. However, it is important to note that the HTC U11 Red and white, as well as the S8 gold and blue, are not available in the US.

Display type and HDR capabilities

When it comes to the technology used for the display, both of the smartphones are situated on opposing sides. With the HTC U11 having IPS and the Galaxy S8 and the S8+ having AMOLED displays. The S8 and S8+ also have displays that are certified as ‘Mobile HDR Premium’ by the reputable UHD Alliance. This is one of the reasons why this series has received much praise from tech-experts.
