The models with the V suffix denote these are the Verizon version of the phones. These are devices the carrier would have customized and offered in a bundled form to their customers. As you can observe, some of these devices had received their last updates last months while most others had their software updated around 3 months back in September 2018.

Different Methods of Enabling the Updates on Your Devices

Verizon has issued these updates along with detailed notes on how these will reach your phones and get downloaded and installed. The best-case scenario would be your device is connected to Wi-Fi and has sufficient charge in the battery left for the updates to get downloaded and installed. You will have to do nothing as the OTA update takes over and performs the needful.

In the other case, there is the server-led software update where the phone will switch off and then power on and then notify you of the update being available. You will have to tap on the Install now button on the notification and the installation will begin. If, however, for some reason you can’t release the phone at that juncture, you have to choose the Defer option.  You can always do the manual download and installation later. The process is Home>>Applications>>Settings>>About Device>>Software updates. There will be an option Restart & install.  You will have to pick that and the rest will be as above.

The last option is where you seek the update yourself and do the rest. Verizon has issued instructions to handle the software updates while roaming as well.

The common statement from Verizon on all updates is that this December update for your device contains the latest security patches for your Android OS and if there were any known issues, they have been resolved through them.
