You can find Flyme OS 6 available both for the Samsung Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge, which means that if you’re using either of the two devices, you can start installing the OS on them. Meizu, the company that stands behind the Flyme OS, made it available on the official website for these two products. It is also easy to download them if you click the source link found there.
What You Need to Know before Downloading
You have to know that the package you have to download is quite big, weighing in at 1252 MB. As such, it would be best to connect to a Wi-Fi network before downloading, so as not to affect your mobile data plan.
The version you will find is in fact the beta one for Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, and it is version Flyme 220.127.116.11R. It was launched first on the 22nd of June, and ever since then it has received a new update with a couple of fixes.
Fixes for the Version
Among the fixes you could find the option of deleting messages, contacts and the call log several entries at a time. One problem was with the fingerprints scanner, since it wasn’t able to register them. Initially, the Flyme OS 6 came together with Android 6.0 Marshmallow, but Meizu did not offer an update to Android 7.0 Nougat for it yet.
As such, if you want to install a custom ROM on the Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge, you have to know that it will be downgraded to Android 6.0 Marshmallow, since both devices already got the latest version of the software a couple of months ago. Therefore, you need to be quite cautious and know what you’re doing, if you don’t want to brick your own device.
