Most smartphone fans face the same question every year “Should I buy the next Galaxy or the next iPhone?” A new test which was conducted on both Apple’s and Samsung’s phone might make them decide on one of these phones without too much of a struggle.
George Davis who is the financial chief of Qualcomm, the company which manufactures smartphone components, confirms that its internet modems will not be featured on Apple’s 2018 iPhones.
Without Davis mentioning which company Apple will replace them with, we guess it is going to be Intel.
Why is it going to happen?
If you do not see a reason why Apple would make such a move, Qualcomm answered this question on its blog on Monday:
“Overall, the cellular performance of Android smartphones based on the Snapdragon 845 outpaced the Intel devices in every evaluated metric.”
Qualcomm enforces its statement by mentioning the Ookla’s, the independent Speedtest app maker, Speedtest which gives us proof that Qualcomm’s chip is way better than Intel’s when tested on the same networks.
There is quite a big difference between the two companies ad Snapdragon 845. For example, Qualcomm’s chip has the download speed of 53 percent faster that XMM 7480, Intel’s chip and quicker than XMM 7360, Intel’s modem with 68 percent tested on T-Mobile’s.
According to this test, Apple’s iPhone will be outperformed by next year’s Samsung Galaxy S10 and by some of this year’s phones as well, in case Intel will not make an improved chip in order to beat Qualcomm’s. However, phone industry analysts suggest Intel is not able to make such changes out of nowhere, so it is not going to happen.
There are a lot of Qualcomm chips users such as LG G7 ThinQ, Samsung Galaxy S9, and HTC U12+ along with the next LG V40 ThinQ, Samsung Galaxy Note 9 and Google Pixel 3 which will feature the company’s modems.
What is the reason behind Apple’s major swap?
The main reason why Apple would make such a move is that it has been battling with Qualcomm since 2017 and it did not stop.
speeds are not the only factor that makes a difference in a buyer’s decision. As the mobile industry tries to introduce the 5G phones, iPhones’ slower download speed will not even matter anymore.
About every mentioned above is it yet to see what the new iPhone will be like and what choice buyers will make.
