Samsung Galaxy S Series Flagships – Reservations Now Open; Sales to Start from March 6

While everyone knows that Samsung has fixed February 11 for the Galaxy Unpacked event to make the official announcement of the next lot of Galaxy S series flagship smartphones, it has now been revealed that the company will be shipping the devices starting March 6, 2020. The company has now opened up an option to ‘reserve’ the device of their choice on their website. Unlike a pre-order, where you book the phone and make part or full payment and you are assured of the delivery when released, there is no such assurance here.

Reservation Just an Expression of Interest

This process of reserving your Samsung Galaxy S20 or any of the other models to be launched does not involve any financial commitment from your end. You can go to the dedicated page on Samsung’s US website and choose the Samsung Galaxy S20 model you would like to reserve. There is no assurance from Samsung that once reserved, you are entitled to purchasing the device at the store or online when it is out.

The only difference it can make is that you may receive a reminder of sorts from the company when the pre-orders start. The page on which you reserve captures your email ID and your preferred carrier. There is a possibility the South Korean company is trying to get a rough estimate of the quantities of each of the models their logistics department in the US will be required to ship out. The choice of the carrier also gives a useful hint. There is an indication that those reserving the devices will receive a $35 credit which they can use to adjust against payment for the devices and accessories.

Prices of Phones to Be Revealed on February 11

There have only been rumors on what the prices would be of the various models. There are in all, five models expected, the Samsung Galaxy S20, S20+ and S20 Ultra, with the first two having a 5G version as well. What has however been confirmed is that the buyers of the top two models, the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra and the S20+ will receive the Galaxy Buds+ worth $149 free. Some claim all three models will be eligible for this free gift. It may be a time-bound offer.

The prices of the Samsung Galaxy S20 series are expected to start around $900 and go up to $1,300 for the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra, which will be a 5G-only model.
