On 9 August, Samsung Electronics Co. will unveil the new Galaxy Note smartphone that comes with an upgraded camera and a faster processor from Qualcomm Inc. This new model will most probably be called Note 9 and it is believed to be quite similar to its predecessor that came out last fall.
Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Unpacked event
According to a Bloomberg report, Samsung’s tech “Unpacked” event will take place in New York, about two weeks earlier than a similar event from last year when Note 8 was announced. The company intends to release the new phone at the end of August this year, but we don’t have a certain launch date yet, so we might have to wait a little bit until more details will come to the surface. A Samsung spokesperson has refused to make any comments about the upcoming event.
According to some data from IDC, the South Korean Company had 23% of the smartphone market in the first quarter, compared to 16% for Apple Inc. Also, it is worth mentioning that earlier this year, Samsung released Galaxy S9 that also came equipped with an upgraded camera, which seemed to have been very well received by consumers.
It is known by now that the Note phone line has managed to help initiate the large-phone format, a category that keeps on growing and appeals to fans who are interested in having one single device with more functionalities. Apple, however, has not created a large-screen iPhone until 2014, when iPhone 6 was launched. Let’s also not forget release events held by Apple usually take place in September, so with the new Galaxy Note 9, Samsung would definitely have a head start.
Samsung fans can also be excited about Bixby 2.0 which will have its debut on the new phone. It looks like the company is working on a smart speaker coupled with its digital assistant Bixby.
