Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Owners Receive Free Gear VR Adapters

Nobody expected such a surprise when Galaxy Note 9 was unveiled by Samsung, the South Koren tech giant. The company is offering free Gear VR adapters to Note 9 buyers, and virtual reality fans are in shock.

The big surprise

Even though the last Gear VR headset was designed for the Galaxy Note 8, you can use it with the free adaptor. Samsung stated in its troubleshooting guide “The Note9 is compatible with your existing Gear VR, but a new Type-C adapter is required.”

If you already are the proud owner of the Gear VR with Controller (model SM-R325), get on the phone with the company at 1-800-Samsung and get your adapter for free.

Some people took a sander to their Galaxy Note 9, but to sum up, you do not need to do that. It is useless. If you want to get the adapter, the only way to do it is direct via Samsung. We do not know another method yet. According to Sam Mobile, you will need to wait a maximum of two weeks until the Gear VR adaptor will be delivered to your door.

In conclusion

Samsung knew how to professionally manage the situation as the last headset did not change much from its predecessor and it was also high quality and loved by Samsung tech fans. Taking into consideration that the current Gear VR is good enough for the market, there was no reason why the South Korean company would waste resources to come up with another one just to match the new Note 9.

On the other hand, compared to before it is not a good sign that Samsung wants to de-emphasize the Gear VR. That might lead to waning interest in a product that brought Galaxy S and Note lineup to a key selling point.
