Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Users on T-Mobile Receive Software Update

If you have a Samsung Galaxy Note 8 under a T-Mobile plan, you would have by now received the latest software update released by the carrier or will receive it anytime soon. Though you may not be able to find much information on the dedicated update page on the T-Mobile site, there are sufficient details, including the version number etc. to know what’s coming.

Under this software update version, the mobile device mainly receives the January Android security patch that is dated January 1, 2019. Possibly, Android’s patch for this Samsung phone was last released on this date and nothing after that. More pointed details on whether Samsung has brought about any modifications or T-Mobile itself has changed some of its apps are not known now.  These will be known only after the support page goes live.

Meanwhile, there are these instructions to the users of the device. They start with the size of the update file being 181 MB. But T-Mobile won’t charge its customers for the data consumed while downloading and installing this update. Secondly, the usual advice to keep the phone fully charged while downloading the software update are added. And lastly it is clarified that the whole process may absorb very little time and during the update process, the phone cannot be put to any use, not even to make emergency calls.

If you wish to obtain this update from T-Mobile manually, you just have to go to Settings>>Software update>>Update manually.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 was launched by Samsung in August/September 2017 and was running on the Android Nougat version 7.1.1 while being released. The phone has since received the update to the Android Oreo version 8.0. The 6.3-inch display phone comes with a super AMOLED display; a screen resolution of 1440 x 2960 pixels, which gets protection from Corning Gorilla Glass 5. While the buyers in the US and some other markets would be having a Samsung Galaxy Note 8, that comes with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC processor, the other regions may find the Exynos 8895 SoC under the hood. The rear camera setup sports a 12 MP x 2 dual sensor setup and the front selfie camera is 8 MP. 3300 mAh is the battery size. It might still be finding buyers all over.
