Samsung Galaxy J2 Ace vs. Galaxy J2 (2016) – Which One Takes the Cake?

Nowadays, it seems like people need to spend at least $500 if they want to purchase a reliable smartphone. Fortunately, this is not the case at all since Samsung is always releasing new affordable and powerful smartphones. Two great examples of this are Galaxy J2 Ace and Galaxy J2 (2016). These two smartphones are priced at only $123 each and even though they might not be able to compete against the likes of Galaxy Note 8, their hardware is still more than reliable.

Under the Hood

Galaxy J2 Ace was unveiled earlier this year and Samsung specially created it to appeal to low-ranged budgets. The smartphone is equipped with a quad-core chipset that clocks at 1.4GHz. Things get even better since the chipset is also paired with 1.5GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage space which can be expanded up to 256GB via a microSD card.

As the smartphone’s name implies, Galaxy J2 (2016) is a bit older than Galaxy J2 Ace. However, this doesn’t mean that its weaker than Galaxy J2 Ace. The reason we are saying this is because Galaxy J2 (2016) is fueled by a Spreadtrum SC8830 quad-core processor that’s been clocked at the faster speed of 1.5GHz. Moreover, the processor is coupled with 1.5GB of RAM and the same 8GB of expandable storage like Galaxy J2 Ace.

Samsung equipped Galaxy J2 Ace with an 8MP rear camera and a 5MP front placed selfie camera. Also, both cameras feature LED flash. On the other hand, Galaxy J2 (2016) features a similar camera setup that’s made from a 8MP rear shooter and a 5MP front camera but there’s a difference, Galaxy J2 (2016)’s cameras feature autofocus and an aperture of f/2.2.

Even though both smartphones are priced at $123, Galaxy J2 (2016) seems to be the overall better smartphone, at least in the hardware and camera departments. Therefore, the winner of this comparison is Galaxy J2 (2016).
