PCUnlocker is a bootable rescue CD that can reset forgotten passwords for Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista and XP, and help you get back into a locked, disabled or expired Windows account. The bootable CD is my choice and I always keep one around in case of emergency.
Step 1: When you are locked out of your own computer, you have to use another PC to make a PCUnlocker boot media. Click here to download PCUnlocker ZIP archive and save it to your desktop. Unzip it and burn the resulting ISO file to CD (or USB drive) using ISO2Disc or your favorite CD burning program.
Step 2: Place your newly created PCUnlocker boot CD in the CD drive, and set your locked PC to boot from CD. To accomplish this, you may have to change the boot sequence in BIOS/UEFI setup and set your PC to boot to CD prior to the hard drive.
Step 3: Once PCUnlocker loads, it will list all system accounts on your machine. Choose an user and click on the Reset Password button.
Step 4: You’ll get a message “Successfully reset your Windows password!” Remove the CD and restart your computer normally. At the login screen, click your user account icon and you should go directly to the desktop without a password prompt.
