A recent update regarding the launch of one of the world’s most highly anticipated video games GTA 6 points towards bad news for Xbox One and PS4 users. In the last couple of weeks, the internet has been flooded with rumors that the upcoming GTA 6 will be exclusive to next-gen gaming hardware only. Moreover, The GTA franchise’s next title could be delayed even further because there are rumors of other titles like RDR 2 for PC and Bully 2 launching first.
If the rumor is true, then the next Grand Theft Auto game will run only on advanced gaming hardware; the likes of PS5, Xbox Scarlett, PC, and Google Stadia. But since there has been no official word on the matter from Rockstar Games (GTA’s parent company), the rumors should be taken with a pinch of salt, because it is not possible to completely rule out a release on PS4 and Xbox One. Many gaming enthusiasts have pointed out that it would make perfect sense for parent company Take-Two Interactive to launch the game on current generation hardware along with next-gen, especially when you consider the vast user base of 100 million+ that PS4 and Xbox one have.
Why GTA 6 could be next-gen exclusive
Many business analysts in the gaming industry have pointed out the fact that GTA 6 is at least a couple of years away from its release, which only increases the probability of it being a next-gen hardware exclusive affair. In fact, in a recent interview with Take-Two’s CEO Strauss Zelnick, some new information came to light which suggests that Take-Two’s upcoming gaming projects will be way more impressive than anything we have seen yet.
Although GTA 6 wasn’t particularly mentioned in the discussion, it goes without saying that the upcoming game will involve the impressive new graphics and gameplay technology discussed by Zelnick in the interview. Zelnick also said that Take-Two has a brand new console generation that will be launching soon and that the technology will the developers as well as users to do some things that couldn’t be done before, and that is exciting news for fans all over the world.
CEO Zelnick mentioned that a lot of games would profit from these advanced graphic technologies which will enable things like ray tracing and make the gameplay look more ‘live-action’ than ever. As of now, it isn’t certain whether Take-Two’s leading franchise Grand Theft Auto will be a next-gen hardware exclusive game. However, it will definitely get the upgrade to next-gen hardware.
So far Rockstar hasn’t said a word on the game’s release, but it’s been 6 years since GTA V was released, and although the last installment in the series is still doing amazingly well, it’s high time they give the fans what they patiently been waiting for years now. Stay tuned for more updates on GTA 6’s release and keep your fingers crossed and hope that it runs on PS4 and Xbox One too.
