We know that most of you have been expecting the next PlayStation console for quite a while now, but according to some analysts, the wait may soon be over. Recently, the Wall Street Journal has issued a report containing the declaration of Damian Thong, who works at the Macquarie Capital Securities company. As such, he said that Sony might actually release their next generation console until the second half of 2018.
But Should We Rely on That?
Of course, not all analyst predictions come to reality, and not all of them rely on some secret inside information that we don’t have access to. The Wall Street Journal reporter wrote on Twitter that we should in fact give the analyst some credit, since he was the one that rightfully predicted the releases of the PS4 Pro and Slim before they were actually officially announced.
If we have a look back, we notice that the PS4 first announcement took place 9 months before the actual release, while for the PS4 Slim and the Pro version, Sony revealed the revisions with one week and two months before they started being sold.
Will There Be an Announcement?
We have to admit that if the company will release an announcement for their upcoming product, this would take some of the spotlight off the Microsoft Project Scorpio. According to the rumor, Project Scorpio is going to be much more powerful than Sony’s product. However, the announcement would represent a boost to the PS4 and PS4 Pro series. But even so, now it may be too soon to make it public.
What Is the Next Product?
Even though the WSJ report doesn’t offer many details about Thong’s opinion about the aspect of the next consoles. However, most likely we are talking about the PlayStation 5.
