Even though PlayStation 4 firmware 5.0 has got released on 3 October, it has already been exploited. We saw in a Twitter screenshot from Luca Todesco that there is a bug in the 5.0 PS4 firmware.
Luca Todesco really likes to jailbreak things, particularly iOS versions (the latest jailbroken iOS is 10.2.1). And now we see a jailbreak for the PS4, which is great news!
Unfortunately, there is no jailbreak tool available for the moment, as the bug hasn’t been yet exploited. This bug has appeared in other previous versions, meaning that either Sony didn’t know about it – but we believe that to be highly unlikely – or that they couldn’t patch the bug without causing other issues to the software.
Jailbreaking PS4 5.0 – Unsigned Indie Games and Emulators
Imagine a jailbroken PS4, so many possibilities with installing indie games and emulators. But as soon as you go to the PlayStation Network, Sony would figure out what you are doing and would block your console from the PlayStation Network. So, you either play in offline mode or you get two PlayStation 4: one for offline jailbroken gaming and one for legit online gaming. If you are up for investing this much money for a worthy and more diversified gaming experience, then you should go for it!
If you want to try this jailbreak tool in the future, be sure to turn off auto software updates. Sony will surely think of a way to close this exploit in a future update to their firmware. If you don’t want to waste time downgrading the firmware on your PS4, disable automatic updates and wait some time for the PS4 5.0 jailbreak to enjoy new unsigned content on your console.
Would you jailbreak your PS4 and try some new games or stick to the original software?
