Google Pixel, it looks like, is playing fast and loose with its handset’s battery life. Time and again Pixel users have voiced out their frustration concerning the poor life of their phone’s battery. Despite the amazing features tied to the super hyped and yet-to-release Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL, users are edgy that the phones might come packed with substandard batteries and inadequate battery lives.
The devices in the Pixel series come with decent batteries when initially bought. Though their battery life is not necessarily comparable to other Android phones, to start with, they are just fine. The problem of battery-drain slowly creeps up post a few months of regular use.
Pixel 3XL – by far the only Pixel phone with a decent battery life
Google Pixel’s second-generation device- Pixel 2 XL, powered by Android Q Beta offers better battery life than its third-generation sibling – the Pixel 3. It should be noted that Pixel 2 XL came with a slightly bigger battery, but that is no excuse for Pixel 3’s short-lived battery. The Pixel 3 XL phone is the only handset thus far manufactured by Google, which has the strongest battery life of all Pixel phones.
Exciting features may not make up for Pixel 4 and 4XL’s questionable battery life
Pixel’s rivals like, Samsung and OnePlus, have consistently manufactured phones with much better battery lifespans. Samsung’s Galaxy S10e and Galaxy S10+ have managed to offer comparable battery lifespan in their phones. The Pixel siblings are nearly no competition to the commendable battery life delivered by phones like the OnePlus 7 Pro and Huawei P30 Pro.
It seems unjust that devices like Pixel 4 and 4 XL that are tied to a list of amazing features might carry subpar batteries that offer shorter battery lives. Evidenced by the poor battery lives of the phones in the existing Google Pixel line-up, users are apprehensive about investing in the soon-to-release Pixel 4 and 4 XL. The Pixel 4 and 4 XL phones are expected to bring in a hoard of incredible features like Project Soli which will house gesture detection technology, multi-camera systems, sensors and more.
Pixel 4XL that awaits an official launch date, will likely be larger than both Pixel 4 and Pixel 3. This will surely be a deciding factor for mobile phone users who prefer larger screens. Pixel 4 is expected to measure in at 147.0 x 68.9 x 8.2 mm, while Pixel 4XL is likely to be slightly larger at 160.4 x 75.2 x 8.2 mm. 2018’s Pixel 3’s dimensions were 145.6 x 68.2 x 7.9 mm. The upgrade in the RAM capacity from 4 GB as seen in the predecessors to 6 GB has gotten fans excited. That in addition to the 128 GB storage space will deliver an unmatched experience.
All these features, users feel, will not make up for the possibility of a bad battery life that will ultimately ruin the experience of using the phone.
