What if a food and beverage company decides to try something different in terms of expanding their business? That’s what PepsiCo Inc is doing. The company, which is most popular for its sugar water, reportedly will release a smartphone and accessories in China. According to mobipicker.com on October 11,
Pepsi will release a smartphone called Pepsi P1, which will have a 5.5-inch 1080 display, 1.7GHz, MT592 SoC, 2GB of RAM paired with 16GB internal storage. If we see the specification, it seems to a mid-range smartphone, but it will have a better camera: 13 megapixel of main camera and 5 megapixel of front camera. It also will have 3000mAh battery and will run on Android 5.1.
We don’t know yet which company will become a partner of PepsiCo in making their first smartphone, but one thing is certain, they will only release it in China, as the spokeswoman told the Reuters:
“Available in China only, this effort is similar to recent globally licensed Pepsi products which include apparel and accessories.”
The Pepsi P1 will be priced CNY 1,299 (approx US$200) and it seems that it will be released in Beijing next week, on October 20.
