Months after you first saw the colorful Reno logo of Oppo’s sub-brand, the phone has been sighted on the benchmarking site Geekbench. You will get to see the device in all its glory in just a couple of days. There are two events forthcoming; one in China and the other in Zurich, Switzerland. Speculation is that the China event on April 10 may see the 4G Reno being launched, whereas the Zurich event on April 24 will see the 5G Reno phone from Oppo being announced. When the logo was leaked first, the speculation was that Oppo plans to launch a phone focused at the youth. But that is yet to be confirmed.
Triple Rear Camera with 48 MP Sensor and 10X Zoom the Highlights
Going purely by the Geekbench entry, this smartphone will sport an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor and 6 GB RAM and the OS will be the Android Pie. There are other reports of an 8 GB variant of the Oppo Reno also being there.
But it is the optics department that is attracting a lot of interest in this Reno smartphone. It has a triple camera setup in the rear, with the sensors placed one below the other vertically. The primary sensor is expected to be a 48 MP Sony lens and then there is the 8 MP sensor, which is being described as a super wide-angle shooter. The third lens of 13 MP will be a periscope type lens with the 10X hybrid zoom technology. The front camera for selfies will be a popup 16 MP sensor.
The popup selfie camera is an indication of the fact that the main display screen does not have any hole or notch. The Oppo Reno is likely to have a 6.65 inch AMOLED full HD+ display with the least amount of bezels all around except that the bottom bezel may be marginally higher.
As mentioned, the Android Pie will be the OS with the Color OS 6.0 skin as the UI.
Rest of the specs may be revealed when the company officially launches the multi-variant Reno phones. If the rumors are true and the 5G phone gets launched in Zurich, then this will be the first 5G phone from Oppo. Buyers around the world will be keen to know the price of the new phones and in just about 2 weeks from now, we will have detailed information on all variants of Oppo Reno.
