OnePlus Rolls Out OxygenOS 9.0.9 Update for OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T

There is good news for the owners of OnePlus 5 or OnePlus 5T smartphones. OxygenOS 9.0.9 updates are released for these two smartphones. The updates have started to reach both the devices through Android’s OTA feature.

At the OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro launch in London, OnePlus revealed that they are planning to update the OnePlus 5 and 5T devices to OxygenOS 10, which is the Android 10 version of OxygenOS. The timeframe of the OxygenOS 10 update for OnePlus 5 and 5T was set in the second quarter of 2020. The Android 10 updates for OnePlus 5 and 5T were a positive gesture by OnePlus towards its customers for good reception of the handsets.

Till then, OnePlus continues to fix bugs and update the Android Security Patch levels of OxygenOS 9 through these minor updates.

OxygenOS 9.0.9 Announcement

The OxygenOS 9.0.0 update for OnePlus 5 and 5T was announced at the OnePlus forums by Manu J., the Global Operations Manager of OnePlus. The forum post announced the availability of the update as well as the changelog.

OxygenOS 9.0.9 updates the Android security patch level of the OnePlus 5 and 5T to October 2019. This means that the devices will be safe from recent vulnerabilities found in Android 9.

Other changes with the update are mostly bug fixes. The issue with expanded screenshots on OxygenOS 9.0.8 is fixed with this update. There are other general bug fixes and improvements too which will result in improved performance and stability of the OS.

The update will be rolled out incrementally by OnePlus to reduce the strain on the servers caused by downloading updates on many devices at a time. You don’t have to worry if your OnePlus 5 or OnePlus 5T device hasn’t received the OxygenOS 9.0.9 update yet as it will be sent to you via OTA soon.

Although the update is expected to reach all the OnePlus 5 and 5T devices globally in the coming days, you can also try updating using the OnePlus updater to receive all the latest software fixes and updates provided by OnePlus.
