With every OnePlus smartphone being launched, the market expectations about this Chinese brand have been increasing. The next release awaited from the company is the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro. Though the precise launch dates are not clear, the general sense is that the company might wait till the MWC 2020 gets over later this month. You may expect a mid-March kind of a date for the company to make the official announcement and follow it up with the shipments. A render of the OnePlus 8 Pro has been leaked along with some rumored specifications of the device.
The Render Itself Does Not Give Away Much
Though the render has images of the device’s front and rear there is hardly anything you can clearly decipher about the display. The rear panel does indicate there are three sensors making it a triple camera setup in the rear. The time of flight (ToF) sensor is not to be missed as well.
It is the list of alleged specifications appearing alongside that has some details. According to this, the processor will be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC. The RAM is projected to be 8GB and the internal storage will be available in two variants of 128GB and 256GB. The display screen size will be 6.5inches. It says it will be an AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The confirmation on the refresh rate had come in mid-January directly from OnePlus CEO Pete Lau. The other expectation is the 4,500mAh and more interestingly, it will have 50W fast-charging support.

Now, there have been several rumors on the next set of OnePlus smartphones. According to these, there will be three models on offer that are the OnePlus 8, OnePlus 8 Pro and OnePlus 8 Lite. The understanding is all three will have the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC processor. OnePlus will add its inhouse user interface OxygenOS built on the Android 10 platform.
The details not appearing here are the camera specifications. The OnePlus 7 series already has the under-display fingerprint sensor and you can expect that to be carried on. In any case, if this latest render is true, it shows there is no fingerprint sensor provided on the rear panel that confirms the under-display arrangement. It will be interesting to know the capacity of the front camera as well.
Market sources expect that the company may have up its sleeve a premium variant on the OnePlus 8 Pro with specs like 12GB or 16GB RAM and some other top-end components/features.
The pricing of the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro will be another area that will be closely monitored.
