OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro Renders Show Hole-Punch Front Camera

OnePlus recently launched the OnePlus 7T and 7T pro devices globally with 90Hz displays across the lineup. Soon after that, we are seeing reports and leaks of the OnePlus 8 Pro and OnePlus 8 smartphones. Tech news blog 91Mobiles released unofficial renders of the OnePlus 8 Pro based on leaked information by OnLeaks.

The renders show a hole-punch camera design instead of the mechanical pop-up camera as seen in the OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro smartphones launched this year. The renders also hint at a fourth snapper in the rear camera setup.

OnePlus 8 Pro Renderswith a Fourth Camera Leaked

The renders show a curved display with a thin chin and forehead along with hole-punch front camera setup. There were expectations of an in-display front shooter on the OnePlus 8 Pro but it seems that the technology isn’t up to the mark yet. It is interesting that OnePlus is opting for a punch-hole snapper design instead of the pop-up camera arrangement.

The display is slightly smaller than that on the OnePlus 7T Pro. The OnePlus 8 Pro is expected to have a 6.65-inch display whereas the OnePlus 7T Pro has a 6.67-inch display.

The rear of the device looks similar to the OnePlus 7 Pro, except that there is the fourth camera beside the primary triple camera arrangement. According to the leaks, the fourth camera will be a 3D Time of Flight (ToF) sensor, which will give 3D depth information for images and videos by measuring the time taken by light to bounce back from surfaces in images.

Below the rear camera arrangement is an LED flash followed by the OnePlus logo. There is also a OnePlus branding at the bottom of the rear panel.

OnePlus 8 Renders Reveal a Smaller Display

Before the OnePlus 8 Pro renders were released by OnLeaks, CashKaro also posted renders of the OnePlus 8 earlier this month. The OnePlus 8, according to the unofficial renders, has the same overall design as the OnePlus 8 Pro but has a smaller display size. The rear camera setup is similar to the exclusion of the fourth camera, which was seen in the OnePlus 8 renders.

The OnePlus 8 is finally expected to come with the highly anticipated wireless charging feature. The bottom of the device has been redesigned as well, with the speaker grill getting thinner and the addition of the SIM tray.

The display on the OnePlus 8 is likely to be curved, which makes it the first non-Pro model by OnePlus to get a curved display.

There is no official announcement by OnePlus regarding the OnePlus 8 or 8 Pro devices. The renders are claimed to be based on design schematics leaked by a company insider. We don’t know about the specifications of the devices yet. The handsets are expected to release in 2020 and we will get more details as the release date comes closer.
