The OnePlus 5T smartphone has been released in June 2017 and since then; it has not received an update. Although OnePlus did not announce the update officially, Oxygen OS 4.7.2 has started to arrive for the OnePlus 5T smartphones. Thus, the version is stable and most likely the company will announce its existence in the new future.

There are several sources suggesting that the new update improves the fingerprint sensor, making it more reliable. The face unlock feature has also received some updates, including the accuracy improvement for screen off gestures. The Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) feature has also been improved. It is a feature used for video recording.

Security issue fixed

The Oxygen OS 4.7.2 update for OnePlus 5T also fixes the security issue connected to  the KRACK Wi-Fi WPA2. Other bug fixes and improvements have also been added. The most important ones are still the Krack vulnerability pack fix, the improved accuracy of screen off gestures and EIS and also the optimizations for fingerprint unlock and face unlock.

The newest OnePlus device is the successor of OnePlus 3, due to the fact that the Chinese company does not use number 4 for its devices. There is a Chinese superstition according to which number 4 is unlucky. Under the hood the smartphone features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, an Octa-core Kryo CPU and an Adreno 540 GPU. It comes with 6 or 8GB of Ram and 64 or 128 GB UFS of memory storage. The battery is a 3,300 mAH Li-Ion and it has dash charge technology. The original operating system is the OxygenOS 4.5 and it is based on Android’s 7.1.1 Nougat.

The device is a phablet, which is a combination of smartphone with tablet.
