The Honor 8 Pro smartphone has just launched last week to a lot of public acclaims, and diehard Honor fans were quick to go and buy it. For those of you that didn’t know this before, Honor is a subdivision of Huawei, the up and coming Chinese smartphone manufacturer, and it aims to produce phones that are similar to Huawei’s, but even more affordable, which is amazing. While it’s pointless to compare the Honor 8 Pro to any new Huawei smartphone, it’s very interesting to see how it stands against another relatively new China-based smartphone release. We’re talking about the OnePlus 5, of course.
OnePlus is another huge Asian smartphone manufacturer and retailer that has managed to quickly take the world by storm with its amazing, yet affordable flagships. So, let us see how the OnePlus 5 stands against the newer Honor 8 Pro. The result might surprise you.
Because price is what people look for first in such affordable and coveted releases, we’ll jump straight into that. The Honor 8 Pro holds up to its previous description and is the cheapest of the two, with a price point of just 445 dollars. The OnePlus 5 follows it closely with its price of 479 dollars. On top of this, the Honor 8 Pro comes with the best battery we’ve seen on an affordable device, namely 4,000 mAh. This is something that we’re expecting of the Samsung Galaxy S8 Active, so those are big shoes to fill.
And the Honor 8 Pro fills them just fine. In term of specs, it still manages to hold its own against the OnePlus 5, although it’s a bit more modest. So our choice is the Honor 8 Pro.
