OnePlus 5 Was a Success and the Company Ran Out of Devices

As of last week the OnePlus 5 smartphone is no longer available for sale. Many believe that the Shenzhen-based company will announce a new handset in the near future. Some believe the new device could hold the name OnePlus 5T while other believe it could be OnePlus 6.

OnePlus 5 phone no longer available to buy

Co-founder of OnePlus, Carl Pei used Twitter to explain that they already sold all the OnePlus 5 devices fabricated and there will be no more. Although there were no sales numbers provided, the phone sold out faster than expected. Even so, it seems the company will not manufacture more. Everyone assumes the reason is the fact that a newer device will be released soon.

Judging from last year when OnePlus 3 was announced in June and OnePlus 3T was announced in November, a future OnePlus 5T should be announced next month.

Many speculate that the new OnePlus device will support an almost bezel-less 6-inch screen, similar to the Vivo X20.

OnePlus 5 specs and features

The device was released in June and it is the successor of OnePlus 3T (2016). The phone was available in Slate Gray, Soft Gold and Midnight Black. It came with a 5.5-inch display Optic AMOLED and 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The rear camera has 16 MP Sony Exmor IMX398 and the front camera 16 MP Sony Emor IMX371. It had a 3.5mm headphone jack and under the hood it rocked a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset clocked at 2.45 GHz with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB storage.

The sound equipment included bottom facing speaker, 3-microphone with noise cancellation, support AANC and Dirac HD Sound.

According to XDA developers, the phone was locking the CPU and GPU at their maximum clock speeds.
